5 - Psalm 23 |
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul; He guides me in paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me. Your protection gives me comfort. You prepare a table for me in the sight of my enemies; You refresh me by anointing my head with oil; My cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. |
6 - Prayer for Rain (Geshem) (Traditional - based on Job Ch37 Verse 11) |
You cause the wind to blow and the rain to fall. The spirit of the clouds and rain gathers the light and heavy clouds and causes them to pour out the rain upon the earth so that the showers may adorn the fields with vegetation. Let the rains not be witheld for our want of merit, but for the sake of our forefathers who, strong in faith, shield their offspring who pray for rain. From out of Your treasury of rain let showers fall unceasingly in drops beauteously bright as diamonds to moisten the face of the parched earth. The prophecies speak of water as the symbol of Your might; its drops refresh those that have the breath of life and bring life to those who speak of the wondrous power of thy gift of rain. |
